The Sustainable Bedford Green House I

Bedford Green House I on Creston Avenue is the first phase of Project Renewal’s twin housing development in the Bronx. The 13-story, 84,000 SF building has 118 affordable and supportive apartments. The project fosters community and well-being through active design principles and biophilia-inspired amenities and programming. The 1,500 SF rooftop greenhouse equipped with aquaponic farming provides a space for horticultural therapy, gardening, and outdoor gatherings. Social service offices, community, and laundry rooms are grouped on the 3rd floor and have views, and direct egress onto the landscaped, rear courtyard. The courtyard will be shared with residents of phase II on Jerome Avenue. The LEED Silver-certified project exceeds Energy Star Multifamily High Rise Performance Path standards and has a high-performance envelope and green roof.
