Historic Preservation for the Charles B. Wang Community Health

The façade restoration for the Charles B. Wang community Health on Canal Street included significant repair to the existing cast-iron to stabilize it for long-term life. Rust, poor ‘bondo’ repair and layer upon layer of paint were removed to reveal the finer aspects of the detailed original cast-iron. A five-coat finish paint installation ensured longevity for this intricately detailed façade, while minor deviations in paint color highlight decorative elements such as the sunbursts, colonnettes and intermediate cornices.
