Environmentally Friendly Features of 4380 Bronx Boulevard Shelter

While daylight and ventilation are the obvious hallmarks of 4380 Bronx Boulevard Shelter, the design team took special care to ensure that the details were also environmentally friendly. Energy recovery units recycle heat from the showers for use in the rest of the building. Materials with 30-40% recycled glass were used in the countertops as well as in the ground-floor masonry infill. Operable windows and clerestories have rain-sensors that contribute to passive cooling.
