Connecting the Educational and Community Programs at New Settlement Community Campus

The two-story red brick mass along Jerome Ave houses the New Settlement Community Center and is carved and punctuated, reflecting the various programs within. The four-story articulated brick portion hosts the classroom functions, pivoting away from the busy avenue and elevated train while interlocking with the communal spaces via a glazed stair tower. The analogy of the community connecting with and bolstering the educational wing is physically expressed in the building’s form.
