20 Years Later: Charles B. Wang Community Health Center

Congrats to the Chinatown Health Clinic Foundation (CHCF) on its Gala honoring Dr. David Ho, renowned AIDS researcher, physician, and virologist. We take a moment to reflect on one of our favorite projects with CHCF.

Although the project was completed nearly 20 years ago, it feels like yesterday that we partnered with the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center on our fourth project located on Canal Street. The renovation of this six-floor cast iron building includes general medicine, OB/GYN, and mental health services, along with administrative offices. The exterior of the building is protected by the Landmarks Preservation Commission and was carefully restored. Investigative testing revealed that the free-standing colonettes were originally painted a different color than the rest of the cast-iron which allowed the design team to select a subtle accent color for this distinctive façade element.
