Landy Court / School Street Residences. Yonkers

Located on School Street in Downtown Yonkers, Landy Court is a 7-story, 80-unit, affordable, and supportive housing project. Since the building is designed on a hillside, the double-height lobby connects the street level to upper rear terraces, creating a slice of glazing so that the lobby is always daylit. Glazed partitions at either side of the lobby transfer daylight to the adjacent common areas which will be available to local community groups. The ground-floor lobby is the heart of the common areas, promoting visibility from the street into the building. A generous awning provides shelter on the sidewalk while maintaining the warehouse aesthetic original to the street. The interior of the building is inspired by the headquarters of a turn-of-the-century manufacturing company, with simple but rich finishes.
