Hour Children Apartment House III. Queens

Hour Children Apartment House III provides permanent, affordable, and supportive housing to formerly incarcerated women living together with their children. The 4-story, 25,000 SF apartment building accommodates 18 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, as well as the headquarter offices of Hour Children, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower women through reunification with their families. Set within a context of stately brick buildings from the early 20th century, the building façade plays with the same material in a contemporary way. Subtle brick corbels, brick projections, and canted window returns create a subtle movement of the façade surface and distinct shadow line definition. As part of the Enterprise Green Communities program, Hour Children Apartment House incorporates sustainable design concepts and construction techniques.
