Kimberly Murphy
AIA, Partner
Kimberly Murphy, AIA, knew she wanted to be an architect at age four when she drew dollhouse floor plans on the back of a Monopoly board. Being told that this is what architects do, she set a course to make that her career. Sadly learning that architects don’t spend much time on dollhouses, she was undeterred in making her way to Kansas State University. Kimberly moved to New York City after graduation and soon joined The Edelman Partnership / Architects and has worked on many public projects including schools, community centers, and supportive housing. She was named an Associate in 2005 and became a Partner in 2017.
While her interest in designing dollhouses is reserved for playtime with her two children, Kimberly is deeply committed to honorable design for the public realm and underserved communities in New York City. Although proud to be from the big sky country of Kansas, New York City is home and allows for a type of architecture unique among large cities.
Kimberly has managed many award-winning projects including Landing Road, the Murphy Clubhouse Pool, New Settlement Community Campus, and the Eco-Restroom at the Bronx Zoo. She is a member of the AIA Committee on Architecture for Education.
