The Barbara Kleiman Men’s Shelter

The Barbara Kleiman Men’s Shelter will transform the former nurses’ residence at the historic Greenpoint Hospital Campus into a 60,000 SF, 200-bed shelter for single men. The gut renovation will feature flexible layout dorm rooms, social service offices, programming space, a medical clinic, and a rooftop courtyard. The existing building is being converted in partnership with the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to preserve and restore some of the building’s historic interior and exterior elements. All new finishes, mechanical and life safety systems, and landscaping complement the adaptive reuse of the historic building.
