Carving Corridors for a Dynamic School Population
At the Bronx Community Charter School, the double loaded corridor was carefully configured to create a dynamic avenue that fosters multiple types of learning. The design located the small break out and specialist spaces along the demising partition between the classrooms and corridor in order to impact the geometry of both, creating irregularly shaped classrooms and pockets of space along the main passageway. By instituting this push and pull of the massing, we created opportunities for varying types and scales of interaction.
