Building Cortelyou Road

Before redevelopment, the Baptist Church of the Redeemer sanctuary had been in disrepair for over a decade. The congregation had moved to the adjacent parsonage for services and community activities. Over time, care of religious facilities becomes challenging; partnering with a developer that will protect the interest of the church was critical. MHANY’s mission to create deeply affordable housing and nurture neighborhood involvement resonated with the Church’s own legacy of community service and interfaith advocacy. Inspired by the whole team’s mutual vision for community empowerment, Reverend Williams dedicated church space for Turning Point’s “We Care About You” Shower Program for the homeless.
