Andrea Wong Promoted to Senior Project Manager

Andrea Wong, AIA, grew up in a multilingual household in the heart of Montreal, Quebec. Raised in a city where language is key to its identity and relationship with the world, Andrea has always been interested in the importance of effective, creative, and adaptable communication. Learning from living and traveling to some of the world’s greatest cities, she is most inspired by the way architecture expresses the culture and stories of the people it serves.

Although Andrea’s prior experience in the high-end retail, hospitality, and residential sectors taught her to pay attention to the finer details, she joined ESKW/A in 2015 for an opportunity to design and realize architecture for broader user groups and those in need. Since then, Andrea has had key leadership roles on projects of various sizes and scopes, at all phases of design through construction administration.

Project highlights include the mixed-use, commercial, and affordable housing developments, 540 West 53rd Street and Archer Green, as well as the firm’s largest, purpose-built, ambulatory health facility to date, the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, Healthview. Her role as Project Architect on Weeksville Place, an affordable and senior/AIRS housing project for Settlement Housing Fund (SHF), prepared her to take on the role of Project Manager for a new cluster of 3 buildings for the same client. Passionate about new technologies, Andrea has primary roles on the firm’s first Passive House projects, Community Access’s Bryant Avenue, and SHF’s Coney Island Project, the latter of which is also exploring renewable energy sources such as geothermal heating and cooling.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Andrea was initially skeptical about architecture’s compatibility with remote work. Since then, she has enthusiastically embraced and introduced new collaborative tools to the office, to help maintain smooth communication between team members, consultants, and clients. As a founding member of the office’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (JEDI) committee, Andrea has been deepening our office culture since the committee’s founding in 2020. In her new role as Senior Project Manager, she hopes to continue developing tools, methods, and frameworks to help the office run smoothly so that we can all focus on creating meaningful and thoughtful architecture.

Outside of the office, Andrea enjoys discovering new places, eating delicious food, doing the NYT Crossword, learning the art of handmade ceramics, and being a perennial contender in a fantasy hockey league.
