A Terraced Backyard for True Colors Residence

The first housing facility of its kind in New York City, True Colors Residence in Central Harlem, offers dynamic and much needed permanent living spaces for formerly homeless LGBT youth. In the rear yard, positioned on three different levels, we created a variety of green, communal spaces that include a patio with a shaded trellis, yoga area, and cellar-level patio as a gathering space. This uniquely terraced backyard funnels daylight into the library and computer rooms, all located below grade.
