Bedford Green House I (BGHI) on Creston Avenue is the first completed phase of @projectrenewal ‘s twin housing development in the Bedford Park area of the Bronx. The 13-story, 84,000 SF building is certified LEED Silver and provides a therapeutic greenhouse on the roof and a mix of 118 permanent, affordable, and supportive apartments. Over half of the units are dedicated to formerly homeless individuals and families, households impacted by mental illness, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
The second phase on Jerome Avenue will be completed in 2025 and will bring a new, street-level, Article 28 medical clinic and an additional 116 units, the majority of which are reserved for low-income seniors. Critical to the project’s goals, cross-pollination between the two building populations is facilitated by a shared, landscaped courtyard that feeds directly into each building’s communal and supportive services floor.
