Prospect Plaza Homes

Brooklyn, New York

We designed 37 new two-family houses on four nearby sites in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn. Designed for owner occupancy, the three-story buildings include a ground-floor rental unit with two bedrooms. The upper unit is the owner’s three-bedroom duplex with access to a rear yard. Both apartments open to the street, eliminating public hallways.

The houses are constructed of modular, prefabricated units built locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yards. The units are trucked to the site for assembly, providing an efficient and economically feasible housing solution. The facades facing the street feature alternating shades of red brick. Fiberglass cornices and bay windows evoke the 19th-century middle-class Brooklyn housing stock.
