Bronx, New York
Located in the Bronx, Baez Place will provide 154 units of affordable, supportive, and senior housing options featuring studio spaces as well as 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments. The apartments are split into two gently distinct wings, which form micro-neighborhoods within the larger apartment building.
The 8-story building will welcome and orient its residents with a lobby leading efficiently to the support staff offices as well as the computer room. Meanwhile, the first floor offers a community space and commercial kitchen where residents can serve meals or even initiate food-based micro-enterprises. Softly furnished multipurpose gathering spaces with double-height ceilings and views onto the landscaped backyard and open staircase will be located on every other floor. Laundry rooms are available on each floor for residents’ convenience. The 7th floor is equipped with an exercise room leading to an exterior terrace, where residents can get fresh air or enjoy an outdoor fitness day. The top floor features a greenhouse, living plant wall, hanging plants, and plating beds for year-round gardening activities, led by our building clients, Community Access, and Blue Sky Development Partners.
Exterior aspects of Baez Place include a sloped berm with an exterior stair, a sculpture courtyard, and a main rear yard with exposed rock and native greenery. The recessed brick details at the building’s base along with the vertical windows reflect the language of neighboring buildings.
