Educational Design for All
Summer is in the air and it’s a great time to spotlight some of our educational projects. As students and staff across the City conclude the school year and prepare for vacation, we take a look at some of our contributions to the educational landscape.
Encouraging Child-directed, Cooperative Play at the PS32K ECC Playground
The two upper floors at PS32K’s new addition provide Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classrooms as well as a rooftop ECC playground for the youngest students. The playground features modular, moveable play systems by Snug Play USA, which encourage child-directed, cooperative play.
Thomas Murphy Clubhouse Pool Renovation Process
When the Madison Square Boys & Girl’s Club reached out for a redesign of its indoor community pool at the Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse, we were thrilled. The existing natatorium, original to the 1920’s building needed an update including, new finishes, a reshaped pool floor, updated lighting, new gutter and return systems, de-humidification systems and a new entry lobby for spectators.
20 Years Later: Charles B. Wang Community Health Center
Although the project was completed nearly 20 years ago, it feels like yesterday that we partnered with the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center on our fourth project located on Canal Street. The renovation of this six-floor cast iron building includes general medicine, OB/GYN, and mental health services, along with administrative offices.
